جين ويبستر هي كاتبةٌ أمريكيةٌ، كتبت مجموعةً من أشهر الروايات العالمية الرائعة، وتُرجمت إحداها إلى أكثر من 18 لغة، وقفزت حكايتها المميزة إلى المسرح ثم عالم التلفاز والسينما، لتظهر على الشاشة الصغيرة والكبيرة من خلال أجمل المسلسلات والأفلام المحفورة في قلوبنا وعقولنا. استوحت رواياتها من رحلاتها وخيالاتها واختلاطها بمختلف شرائح المجتمع ومن أفكارها الإصلاحية للكثير من قضايا المجتمع؛ فكانت رواية Daddy-Long-Legs أو كما تُسمى باللغة العربية “صاحب الظل الطويل” إحدى أروع الروايات؛ التي حملت العديد من الأفكار الإصلاحية لحال الأيتام وحفّزت تحسين معاملتهم في المؤسسات المعنية بأمورهم.
