بدأ شغفي بوقائع «السيرة النبوية» منذ زمن بعيد، بينما كنت أبحث عن ضالتي وإجابات لأسئلتي المُلحة:
«كيف أدركت الأمة النبي محمدًا عبر العصور؟ وما الذي فهمته منه وعنه؟ وكيف تتمثله؟ ولماذا يلهمها إلى الآن؟».
تحولت الأسئلة العامة إلى حقيقة شديدة الخصوصية عايشتها وأنا أحب النبي محمدًا مرات ومرات كأنما أتعرف إليه من جديد كلما اتسعت الرؤية وزادت المعطيات، بالقراءة والأسفار ومقابلة المشايخ والعلماء في أركان العالم الإسلامي، لينتهي بي البحث واقعًا في غرام الشخصية المحمدية المكرمة (صلوات الله وسلامه عليها).
في هذا الكتاب أتناول بعضًا من فصول حياة النبي محمد (صلى الله عليه وسلم) كأب وابن وحفيد وجد وكابن أخ وقائد وصديق وزوج.. أراوح- في كل هذا- بين محمد النبي تارة.. ومحمد الإنسان تارات.
«الحبيب».. هو رجاء أن يظل هذا التقليد قائمًا في المكتبة المصرية ولا ينقطع عنها، فالسيرة النبوية - في رأيي- ليست حكرًا على أحد ولا مصادرة لصالح طائفة مخصوصة تستأثر بها، بل هي هدية عابرة للأزمان، يمكن للجميع الطواف برياضها العطرة.الرجال.
